MySERP 2.0
http://www.myserp.com
In November 2004 we built the first version of MySERP our aim was to help us find more interesting things via search by simply taking out the websites we already knew about or weren't interested in. Instead of opting in to a set of websites or web pages our theory is it will be easier to just opt out of them by default – no more shopping comparison sites, no more affiliate link sites, no more Pay Per Click ad sites. We had our own filtering process linked up to the Google Search API that parsed the results on the fly. The effect was astounding, just taking out about 70 domains reduced the results by up to 20% on some searches.
John Battelle gave it a really positive review as did Search Engine Watch, however then Google demo'd their own 'remove' feature in Nov 2005 so we canned our R&D as it looked like this would be a built in option within Google anyway…however Google never properly released the feature themselves.
So now she's back with a bit of 2.0 social search shine to boot - MySERP 2.0
